Dear Future Son in Law

Dear Future Son in Law,
It's late, but I find myself thinking about you right now. You're probably sleeping, soundly I hope, in your nice comfy bed. As is your future wife. Some days I wonder who you are. I wonder who my sweet princess is going to wind up with. I just wanted to take a minute to tell you, you're already loved.
The day I finally meet you will be bitter sweet for me. I'll know my angel has finally found her forever. And although I'll be more than overjoyed for her, that day will break my heart. I have spent the last 8 years raising a wonderful young lady and I promise I'll spend the rest of my time with her preparing her for the real world.
Please protect her heart. Love her in ways that she could only dream of finding. She is the most important thing in my life and I can only hope she would be the most important thing in yours.
I find myself thinking of your parents. Praying silently that they raise you into a caring, loving, gentle young man. Hoping with every fiber of me that they give you enough patience, to show you how to have patience yourself. Wondering ever so much just how they love you.
Let me tell you a little about your future love. She is a diva! She is stubborn and bull headed. And she is completely rough around the edges. But, she is kind! She is brilliant, and wonderful, and so full of amazing gifts.
She has an amazing family that love her to the absolute fullest! She was blessed with two families that work together to raise her right! She has me, of course! But, she also has a fantastic Step Mother who cares so much about her. She has her Daddy that would go to the ends of the Earth just to see her smile. And she has an amazing Step Daddy who would drop everything on a dime just to make sure her world was right. She has the most perfect little sister who believes she holds the world in her hands and nothing and no one could ever separate their bond. She has a wonderful slew of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and so much more. I only hope you are blessed with a family like hers.
She is going into the third grade and I find myself questioning your whole life. Where do you go to school? What grade are you in? Do you play sports? She wants to play basketball, but she also wants to cheer. She's so mixed between being a tom boy, to being a sweet girly girl! I so love that about her.
How long will it be before you grace us with your presence? As much as I can't wait to meet you, I hope we have many more years before we meet.
When we meet, please don't think I hate you. I probably won't be as kind as I should. Please keep in your thoughts that you're taking my baby from me and that will be one of the hardest things I will ever have to go through. Enjoy your life.. Until we meet, my dear son...

Love,
Your Future Mother in Law
